This is the year of the “firsts” for me! I have done so many new things this year and have seen so many new places, it is exciting.Earlier this month I had the chance to attend Affiliate Summit in Boston. I was eating lunch with Zac Johnson and his dad, Shawn Collins came over and said he had three tickets left to the Red Sox game that night and asked if we would like them. We were happy to accept them and met everyone down in the lobby at 6 pm.20 of us piled into three or four taxis and headed to Fenway Park. I haven’t been to a baseball game before, so I was really excited. Everyone in the group told me that this is the best place to experience a first game because it is still like the traditional old fields.Just like I saw in the movies there were guys running up and down the stands selling hotdogs, beer, cotton candy etc..
It started to rain but I wasn’t going anywhere seeing that it was my first game! So we continued to watch the game in the rain. Boston ended up winning the game against Texas with a final score of 19-17.
I love the beach of course… I also love the plants that grow at the beach. I am sure I like them because whenever I see them they bring back good memories of the beach. I started to grow a few of them at my old house before I moved. The ones that I grew from a seed did really well, it was called Beach Morning Glory. I couldn’t find any seeds in stores, so I ended up ordering them on Ebay. I love Ebay, I can find almost anything on there.
Beach Morning Glory is a vine that grows along the dunes to protect them. They can grow up to 50 feet!
The Sea Grape is my personal favorite. I purchased a small one at a local nursery. I planted it in the ground and I thought I would kill it if I tried to pull it up when I moved, so I had to leave it behind. Sea Grape can grow in a bush or it can be shaped in to a tree.
One of my many goals is to learn to surf before the end of the summer. One of my best friends said he would take me…. (ahem… cough… hint!) before the end of the summer.
This would probably be a good time to head out to the ocean since Tropical Storm Fay is bearing down on Florida as I write this. We were sent home early from work because of the storm.
I have done a few searches looking for female surfers that blog but didn’t turn up anything.
I have heard that it is easier to learn on a longboard. At this point I am willing to try either because the end of the summer will be here soon. I get a little sad when the Fall/Winter starts to arrive. I like the sun, beach, warmth, bright colors and over-all happiness that the summer brings.
