New Goal: Pay Off My Student Loan During October

Published by under Uncategorized

I had an unexpected check for $488.00 come in the mail this weekend. I would rather go out and buy a video camera with it but I am going to apply it towards my student loan debt.

I am going to make it a goal to pay off my student loan during the month of October.

The current balance is $4990.88

Once I get this nearly $500.00 check cashed I will send it in to NelNet. THAT SUCKS!

That is why I hate debt. Had I paid my way through school I could have done something I that I wanted to do with that money. But as Dave Ramsey says, “Live like no one else today so that I can live like no one else later.”

I have to listens to Dave’s show atleast a couple of times a week to keep me on track. It gives me inspiration when a young caller calls in and says they paid off their mortgage. I want to be that caller!

Well, now that I have my goal “written” down for the world to see it will keep me on track.

I Made The Front Page Of The Million Dollar Wiki

Published by under Uncategorized

I purchased a page on the Million Dollar Wiki a month or so ago. I have been working really hard on my page. I logged on today and I had made the front page. Hopefully I will get lots of traffic which will lead to affiliate sales. :)

Over 1000 pages have been sold now. Ever since Jeremy from Shoemoney.com bought a page and posted on his blog that he had done so, the Wiki has seemed to explode.

I did notice that people were buying similar phrases as I. The phrase I purchased is “Coupon Codes” That upset me a little, I guess I will have to make sure that my page is just that much better.

Here is the Million Dollar Wiki’s Home Page. (Notice that I am one of the featured pages)

Here is my page on the Million Dollar Wiki.

I Learned So Much At Blog Orlando Today!

Published by under Conferences

This was the 2nd annual BlogOrlando, a free event made possible by Josh Hallett & sponsors!!! They gave away 3 or 4 Ipods, about 20-30 Universal Studios Tickets and BlogOrlando was given $1,000 to spend at City Walk. We all received free t-shirts! Everyone likes free stuff!

I had a really nice day, learning about something that you have a passion for is always fun!

I definately want to get in to Vlogging. You don’t need an expensive camera to the job.

John Rife lead a session on Video Blogging. He and his wife took a 3 month trip around the country making a video blog all along the way. It is called Finding America. He had to be one of the best speakers of the day. He was really funny and a good speaker. That is hard to find!

He gave us a lot of good resources to check out. Just two name a few…

Blip.tv

The Video Blogging session made the Orlando Sentinel!

There were four tracks to choose from and I chose the technical track. The only session I missed that I would have like to have seen was Product Development. I hope someone taped it and will post it.

The sessions that I attended were

Podcasting - Lead by Ryan Price

SEO - Lead by Mark Jaquith
Design On A Dime - Jeremy Harrington

Blogging Basics - Chris Scott

Blogging Tools -Lead by Judson Collier - 16 years old! You would never know it!

Wordpress -Lead by Mark Jaquith

After going to this, I really want to go to BlogWorld in Vegas in November now!!!

I Am Getting A 20% Pay Cut At Work

Published by under Uncategorized

I work at a school as a bookkeeper. We are the last ones to receive raises and of course they are trying to make cutbacks. So they start with the bottom up instead of the top down. The clerical staff has to scrape crumbs off the floor while the big guns make hundreds of thousands of dollars and drive around cars that the County pays for. There should be more equality. It takes every single position to make a school run. I am a 12 month employee and they are talking about forcing us to close the school an additional 44 days. If you do not have vacation time built up then you will have to take those days unpaid. We are not allowed to use sick time. That equals almost 20% of my pay. So not only are we receiving a raise we are receiving a HUGE cut. I don’t get it. The cost of everything is going up. If it wasn’t for my husbands income I would literally be dirt poor. So I am going to continue to go to school full time at night so that I will have more doors open for me.
